At The virtual training team (VTT), microlearning forms part of our unique blend of learning methods. It intersperses our main workshops, punctuating them with chunks of learning intended to reinforce key ideas and embed knowledge.
We believe that our learning should be constantly adapted to meet the demands of a multigenerational workforce. When it comes to Gen Z employees, studies have shown that they prefer on-demand self-directed learning content. Microlearning allows us to provide our learners with short, focused, and engaging bite-sized chunks of knowledge that guide their attention to the information that matters most.
We’ve found it is the perfect complement to our workshops, even helping us boost the attendance and effectiveness of our events.
Our Creative Director, Catherine Nicholson, recently captivated audiences at the 7taps Microlearning Conference. Discover how to boost your training sessions’ attendance and effectiveness with her practical advice in this short video here.

Why we love microlearning
At VTT, we are obsessed with microlearning. It’s the entrée, side dish and dessert to our instructor-led main course. We love using it as part of our blend to deliver bite-sized learning-focused segments, which are easy to digest and remember — in support of our live training.
Research shows that microlearning boosts learner engagement, improves knowledge retention, and allows for more flexible learning experiences. By breaking down complex topics into manageable chunks, learners can quickly apply what they’ve learnt to real-world scenarios, leading to more effective and sustainable outcomes.
