You don’t need to know or guess every learner’s diagnosis to start making workplace learning more neuroinclusive. A better starting point is to notice where the experience creates unnecessary barriers or hidden effort.
The Neuroinclusive Learning Design Check helps trainers, facilitators and learning designers review a session or programme before, during and after delivery. It gives you practical prompts for spotting friction, questioning assumptions and choosing one useful improvement.
Use it while planning something new, sense-checking an existing programme or reviewing a learning experience with colleagues.
What’s inside the Neuroinclusive Learning Design Check?
The Check takes you through three stages of the learning experience:
- Before: Make expectations, joining information and learning tasks clearer, and plan different ways for people to participate.
- During: Keep things clear, look beyond visible behaviour, and respond to what somebody needs without trying to diagnose the cause.
- After: Ask about friction and barriers, not only satisfaction, then choose one change to make next time.
It also includes a 3-Minute Neuroinclusive Check for those moments when you haven’t got time for a full review but still want to make a thoughtful improvement.
This will help if…
- You’re designing or delivering virtual, face-to-face or blended learning.
- Your joining information, instructions or expectations could be clearer.
- Some activities rely on one narrow way to participate or contribute.
- You want to question what visible behaviour really tells you about engagement.
- You need a practical place to start without overhauling everything at once.
Inclusive defaults don’t replace individual support. They help remove some avoidable barriers before somebody has to ask, while leaving room to respond when a learner needs something different.
