We love participants coming to virtual training with differing personalities and quirks- but dealing with difficult participants can be hard! Sometimes small quirks can interfere with the group dynamics or success of a learning experience. The over-contributor, the under-contributor, the multi-tasker… we’ve dealt with them all! Add in to the mix some nervous learners, camera-shy participants and over-sharers and then the skill of the virtual trainer can be tested to the max! Knowing the skills for dealing with difficult participants can make all the difference.

This masterclass explores how to design and deliver virtual training in such a way that difficult behaviour is less likely to occur, and where participants are engaged, involved and want to learn. We also consider techniques to apply ‘in the moment’ that minimise challenging or unhelpful behaviours, and equip facilitators with the tools for dealing with difficult participants whilst maintaining a positive learning dynamic and psychological safety.
