More Information
Senior leaders cannot guide AI-enabled change entirely from the sidelines. They do not need to become technical specialists, but they do need enough first-hand experience to understand where AI can help, recognise its limitations and lead other people credibly.
The AI-Fluent Executive programme starts with a short diagnostic to understand the leader’s current habits, tools and priorities. Across three private 90-minute sessions, they apply AI to genuine tasks from their own working week, test what works and turn useful experiments into repeatable ways of working.
Each programme is delivered personally by Catherine Nicholson, VTT’s Creative Director and an experienced AI practitioner. Catherine began working with ChatGPT within days of its public launch in 2022 and has since invested thousands of hours exploring and applying AI to real work, from research, analysis and problem-solving to product development, business strategy and the day-to-day running of VTT.
Her expertise is deliberately practical rather than technical. She understands what it takes to move beyond experimenting with AI and start using it as a serious thinking and working partner to the AI-Fluent Executive. In confidential one-to-one sessions, Catherine works alongside each executive on their own priorities and challenges, helping them uncover where AI can add real value, question and improve its outputs, and develop the confidence and independent judgement to keep progressing long after the coaching ends.
One recent participant, Chris Kilroy, was already using AI before the AI-Fluent Executive programme. Across three sessions, he progressed from drafting and summarising to reusable workflows and tailored Copilot agents. In one live task, he created a project plan, Gantt chart and cash-flow model in 20 to 25 minutes, compared with his estimate of two-and-a-half to three hours. As Chris put it: “What it’s giving you is capacity to do more with less.”
