More Information

Assertiveness plays a vital role in healthy, productive working relationships. After all, the ability to express views clearly, set boundaries and say “no” when needed supports trust and mutual respect. Being assertive also enables individuals to contribute effectively while protecting their time, energy and priorities.

Yet being appropriately assertive can feel challenging. Many people struggle with internal barriers such as fear of conflict, desire to please or concerns about being perceived negatively. Others may swing too far in the opposite direction, confusing assertiveness with dominance. Without a clear understanding of what healthy assertion looks like, it can be difficult to strike the right balance.

This workshop explores the psychology behind assertiveness and the common barriers that prevent people from speaking up. Participants will examine what effective, healthy assertion looks like in practice and learn practical techniques for communicating clearly and confidently – including how to say “no” constructively. The learning is grounded in real workplace situations, giving participants the opportunity to apply the mindset and strategies to a scenario that matters to them.

Participants will leave with greater self-awareness and a clear action plan for approaching future situations more assertively. They will gain practical tools to manage their own communication style, strengthen working relationships and handle challenging conversations with confidence and professionalism.
