More Information

Psychological safety is a critical component of high-performing teams. A culture of feeling safe to speak up, challenge ideas, admit mistakes and take risks can lead to greater innovation, stronger problem-solving and higher levels of wellbeing. Psychological safety is closely linked to trust, and together they create the conditions for outstanding performance.

Yet psychological safety can be fragile. It is often undermined by subtle behaviours, such as excessive monitoring, lack of consultation, unaddressed mistakes or dismissive responses to new ideas. Leaders may assume their teams feel safe, but unspoken fears or “trust wobbles” can reduce openness and engagement.

This workshop explores what psychological safety means and how it feels within a team. Participants will examine the relationship between trust and psychological safety, identify common threats, and explore practical steps that help to build and maintain it. Through discussion and reflection, they will assess their current team climate and consider best-practice approaches for strengthening safety and trust in everyday interactions.

Participants will leave with greater clarity about their role in shaping a psychologically safe environment. They will identify specific, practical actions to build trust, repair wobbles and create a culture where vulnerability is rewarded: enabling their teams to contribute more openly and perform with confidence.
