Strategic Thinking

When managers stay close to the day-to-day, it can be difficult to spot what is changing, connect the bigger picture, or make choices that prepare the business for what comes next. This practical workshop helps managers step back, widen their field of view and use a simple Strategic Radar to turn emerging signals and different perspectives into better questions, clearer choices and more confident decisions.

More Information

Most managers and leaders don’t struggle because they can’t think strategically. They struggle because the day-to-day keeps winning. Immediate problems, packed diaries and pressure to deliver can narrow the field of view until the work directly in front of us becomes the whole picture.

Strategic thinking creates the space to look further and more widely. It means paying attention to what is changing inside and outside the organisation, learning from what has already happened, questioning assumptions and considering what today’s signals might mean for tomorrow. It isn’t the same as creating a strategic plan, and it isn’t reserved for the boardroom.

In this engaging, practical workshop, participants use the Strategic Radar to look in, out, back, forward and around. They practise exploring a situation from different perspectives, connecting apparently separate pieces of information and distinguishing an interesting trend from something that could have real implications for the business.

Participants leave with a clearer understanding of what strategic thinking looks like in practice, a simple tool they can use with their teams and practical habits that help them make the bigger picture part of everyday management and leadership. Because strategy shouldn’t be something that only appears at an annual away day, it should be a part of everyday thinking.
