More Information
The workplace has changed, permanently. From flatter structures and digital tools to multigenerational teams and hybrid models, managers now operate in an increasingly complex space where traditional leadership styles fall short. It’s no longer enough to just get results or just care for people; today’s managers need to do both.
However, many managers struggle to strike this balance. They may avoid difficult conversations out of concern for wellbeing or focus on targets while losing sight of their team’s human needs. Without the ability to flex, results and workplace satisfaction both suffer. That’s where the “hard soft manager” mindset comes in.
This workshop helps managers understand the need to strike the balance between hard and soft leadership, where “hard” means holding the line on results and “soft” means leading with empathy and care. Through discussion, peer coaching, and scenario-based activities, participants practise how to flex their approach and tailor their style to meet the needs of their team members and the wider organisation.
Participants leave with the tools to confidently strike the balance of being a hard soft manager, equipping them to navigate performance issues, wellbeing concerns, feedback conversations, and change with compassion and strength – so they can get the hard stuff done, in a human way.
